What is an Authorised Ticket Reseller?
The Organizing Committee provides each National Olympic Committee with an allotment of tickets to be sold and distributed to residents of each country.  Because of the expertise required to sell and distribute the tickets, many National Olympic Committees appoint an experienced partner to manage the sales and distribution process.  These partners, known as Authorised Ticket Resellers, are appointed by the respective National Olympic Committee and approved by the Organizing Committee as well as the International Olympic Committee, and become the only recognized, legitimate ticket seller in that territory.
How do I know I am purchasing tickets and packages through an authorized source?

CoSport has been appointed by Tokyo 2020 as the exclusive Authorized Ticket Reseller for the following territories: Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kingdom of Jordan, Norway, Sweden and the United States. Residents of other EU/EEA countries are also eligible to purchase through CoSport. For more information, visit the Tokyo 2020 website checker and approved Authorised Ticket Resellers List available on tokyo2020.org.

CoSport, along with its sister company Jet Set Sports, has focused on Olympic Hospitality for more than 30 years. Thanks to longstanding relationships within the Olympic Movement, CoSport has and continues to be recognized as a trusted resource for fans eager to experience the Olympic Games.

How can I buy Individual Tickets to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games?
Fans interested in purchasing Individual Tickets to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games should first register an account on www.cosport.com. Further details on the Individual Ticket sales process will be posted to www.cosport.com and emailed to those who registered before sales begin. Residents of Australia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kingdom of Jordan, Norway, Sweden or the United States will be able to purchase tickets from CoSport. Residents of other EU/EEA countries are also eligible to purchase through CoSport.
What are the different phases for individual ticket sales?

Expression of Interest (EOI) - The EOI phase is an opportunity to submit a general expression of interest for Individual Tickets and ticket-inclusive package offerings. An EOI submission does not constitute any commitment on the part of CoSport to allocate requested tickets.

Request – The Request Phase is an opportunity to request to purchase Individual Tickets for specific sessions and price categories. A Ticket Request does not constitute any commitment on the part of CoSport to allocate requested tickets. All requests received before that deadline will be treated equally - not on a first-come, first-served basis.

Live Sales – Once Live Sales begin, you will be able to conveniently find tickets on www.cosport.com, add them to your shopping cart, and purchase immediately.

Inventory is sold in real time and can change at any time. Be sure to have an account registered on www.cosport.com and regularly review available inventory posted to www.cosport.com.

Why is the exchange rate used to convert from Japanese Yen (JPY) to my local currency (US Dollars, Euro, Australian Dollars) different than the market rate?

A fixed rate of exchange is applied to provide consistent pricing throughout the sales period (approximately April 2019 – August 2020). Although the currency conversion rates may differ from the respective exchange rate reported today in publications of record, this same rate will be applied in the calculation of Individual Ticket sale prices unless extreme currency fluctuation necessitates revision at CoSport’s discretion. Any change will be approved by each National Olympic Committee and reviewed by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee.

Individual Ticket pricing has been reviewed and approved by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee and the respective National Olympic Committee before being offered for sale.

Are there discounts for children or infants?
Children under 2 years (born after August 9, 2018) at the time of the event do not require a ticket to any session of the Tokyo 2020 Games, as long as the child remains on the lap of their parent or guardian and does not occupy a seat.
How much time in between events should I allow when purchasing tickets for the same day?
Tokyo 2020 competition venues are located within 2 primary zones: The Tokyo Bay Zone and the Heritage Zone. We recommend that you allow at least two to three hours between the end of one event and the beginning of the next event on the same day. Be particularly mindful of travel time between venues, passage through security checks and any other foreseeable delays. Please refer to tokyo2020.org for more venue related information.
Are there any quantity limitations on the number of Individual Tickets customers can purchase?

A 30-ticket limit will apply for each account. Please note that any account under which 20 or more tickets have been purchased is subject to Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee’s review and approval. There may be additional Individual Session limitations which are specified on www.cosport.com and may differ from the limitations imposed by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee in the Host Country. This common practice is one-way CoSport seeks to provide event tickets to the greatest number of unique individuals while discouraging purchases by ticket brokers/scalpers. You will see that popular sessions like Opening and Closing Ceremony as well as Athletics and Artistic Gymnastics will have the most restrictive quantity limitations in effect. This is because of the extremely high demand for strictly limited quantity of tickets.

Individual Tickets cannot be ordered in bulk.

Will I be able to choose my seat location at time of purchase?
Exact seat locations are assigned shortly before tickets are printed by Tokyo 2020.  While you may not choose a specific seat, you may choose a specific price category. All venues have been broken down into categories of ranging from “A” to “E” or some combination thereof. Category “A” is located closest to the field of play, then category “B”, then category “C”, and so on. Some venues will also include “General Admission” seating which will be noted accordingly. Note that tickets of certain categories may not be available through CoSport and the inventory available through tokyo2020.org is offered only to Japanese residents.
Does CoSport guarantee that tickets purchased within a given order will be seated together?
While CoSport will make every effort to seat parties together, it is not possible to guarantee that all tickets for a given session and seating category will be seated together. This is principally due to available seat locations within limited inventory available in the territory.
What is CoSport's refund policy on tickets?

Why is CoSport’s sales process and available inventory different than what the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee has available in the Host Country?

The Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee primarily serves Japanese residents interested in attending the Games and as such reserves a large percentage of the tickets for its own domestic sales before allocating the remainder to all other countries around the world.  Thus, each territory will have a different number of tickets initially available, based on traditional demand and other factors.

As an Authorised Ticket Reseller, CoSport is responsible for developing the sales timeline, procedures, and product offerings in our designated territories. The quantity of each session and price category ultimately made available for sale by CoSport depends on a number of factors determined by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee. CoSport actively engages the Organizing Committee throughout the sales period to ensure that as much of the overwhelming demand is satisfied as possible.

How are Individual Ticket sale prices calculated by CoSport for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games?

Ticket face values are established by Tokyo 2020, and each ticket’s face value is converted using a fixed exchange rate from Japanese Yen (JPY) to the operating currency in the respective territory (USD/EUR/AUD).  The final sale price per ticket is inclusive of the face value of the ticket plus all applicable and allowable fees which notably include an approved handling fee of 20% (up to a capped amount of JPY 6,000 per ticket), currency conversion, currency fluctuation, bank fees, and merchant service fee for each respective ticket which are approved by each National Olympic Committee and reviewed by Tokyo 2020. The handling fee and sale price are presented in the operating currency in the respective territory.

CoSport will bear all benefits and losses resulting from fluctuations in currency exchange rates, meal costs, ticket costs and taxes, after CoSport has received full payment with respect to tickets and packages purchased.

Any change must be approved by each National Olympic Committee and reviewed by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee.

Individual Ticket pricing has been reviewed and approved by the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee and the respective National Olympic Committee before being offered for sale.
What methods of payment will CoSport accept?

Credit/Debit Card and Wire Transfer are the only methods of payment accepted by CoSport. Full payment is required at the time of purchase. Requests for wire transfers are only accepted for payments over $50,000 (USD) or the equivalent. In recognition of Visa’s longstanding support of the Olympic Games, Visa is the preferred card for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. In the United States, we are proud to accept only Visa cards for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games ticket purchases.

How is the Request Phase of individual ticket sales organized?

The Request Phase will comply to following rules:

  • You will be able to request up to 30 tickets per account.
  • There is no purchase necessary to participate in the Ticket Request Phase and no payment details will be collected at the time of submitting a Ticket Request.
  • You must submit your Ticket Request no later than the request deadline posted to www.cosport.com and communicated via email to accountholders. All requests received before that deadline will be treated equally - not on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Your request will then be confirmed from available inventory. For oversubscribed sessions (where demand exceeds supply), a ballot will be conducted in fairness to all participants.  CoSport may confirm tickets only in a lower price category than what you have requested for that event (if available).  For instance, if you have requested Category “B” tickets to an event session and there are no Category “B” tickets available, you may be allocated Category “C” tickets in order to fulfill your request. You will not however be confirmed Category “A” tickets in this scenario.
  • Once your Ticket Request is fully or partially confirmed, you must process payment for the tickets you wish to secure no later than the confirmation deadline posted to www.cosport.com and communicated via email to accountholders.
